AC Gold Have the Wind In Their Sails
Stirling based electrical contractors, AC Gold Services, has completed the electrical installation of the sub-station and associated electrical works at Craigengelt Wind Farm for Scotia Wind.
The company has established itself as one of Scotland's leading electrical contractors with a number of major contract successes in 2009 including the refurbishment of student accommodation at Heriot Watt University and works at Glenochil Prison.
The works at Scotland's latest renewable energy development saw AC Gold carry out all the electrical installations in the two core areas of the substation including the lighting and small supplies, 3 phase and 110 volt supplies to the Scottish Power workshop as well as the fire alarm and security access controls to both core areas.
AC Gold also demonstrated their flexibility by taking responsibility for some minor heating and ventilation works with the installation of the hot water system, extractor fans and space heaters.
AC Gold's Technical Manager, Mark Paterson, commented, "The renewable energy sector represents a major growth area for Scotland and we believe that our expertise and experience will enable us to capitalise on this opportunity. We have also carried out electrical works in the control room at Whiteleas Wind Farm at Eaglesham which is currently the largest wind farm in Scotland"
The company's commitment to only using its own full time electricians has set the company apart from many contractors in the market and its investment has paid dividends with an unrivalled reputation for quality and providing extremely competitive prices.
AC Gold's Managing Director, Alasdair Campbell, explained, "The use of agency staff is common place in the industry and whilst it can allow companies to ramp up the operations we believe that our approach not only provides our clients with stability, service and quality but also enables us to have full control of our costs."
He continued, "With our approach we can also form strong partnerships with clients and contractors as we did on the Craigengelt project where we were able to supply labour on an adhoc basis to facilitate external earthing and bonding to the Scottish Power building."
